About Convert Image (PNG / JPG / WebP)
Convert Image changes a picture's file format — between PNG, JPG and WebP — without altering its content. It's the tool to use when a site or app only accepts one format (many upload forms reject WebP, some older tools mishandle PNG transparency), when you need transparency support that JPG can't provide, or when you're switching assets to WebP for a faster-loading website. Add multiple files to convert a whole batch in one pass.
Each file is decoded into an HTML5 canvas element, then re-encoded to the target format using canvas.toBlob() with the appropriate MIME type. Converting more than one file at once packages the results into a single ZIP archive, built client-side with JSZip, so you get one download instead of many; a single file downloads directly. All of this happens in your browser tab — files are read locally and never transmitted anywhere.
Format conversion doesn't add information that isn't already there: converting a JPG to PNG won't recover detail already lost to JPEG compression, it just stores the existing pixels losslessly from that point forward. Also watch for transparency — converting a PNG or WebP with transparent areas to JPG will flatten those areas to a solid background, since JPG has no alpha channel.
Frequently asked questions
Which format should I pick?
PNG keeps transparency and is lossless (bigger files); JPG is small and universal but has no transparency; WebP offers the best compression while supporting transparency, with slightly less universal support.
Do I get a ZIP file?
Only when converting more than one image at once — a single image downloads directly.
Can I convert from WebP to JPG or PNG?
Yes — any of PNG, JPG and WebP can be converted to either of the others. The tool reads whichever format you upload and re-encodes it to whichever format you select as output.
Does converting PNG to JPG reduce file size?
Usually, and often significantly, since PNG is lossless and stores every pixel exactly while JPG discards some detail through lossy compression. You gain a smaller file but lose transparency and a small amount of image quality.
What happens to animated GIFs or WebPs?
This tool converts static images. An animated file will be converted using only its first frame, so the animation itself won't carry over to the output.
