โ๏ธ Split PDF
Pull specific pages out of a PDF, or split the whole document into one PDF per page โ all in your browser.
About Split PDF
Splitting a PDF works two ways here: pull out a continuous range of pages (say, pages 3 through 7) into their own smaller PDF, or split the whole document into individual one-page PDFs, delivered together as a ZIP. The range extraction is useful for pulling a chapter or a signed page out of a bigger file; the split-every-page mode is useful when you need each page as a standalone file, for example uploading pages separately to another system.
Both modes run on pdf-lib.js. For a page range, the tool copies just the pages you specify โ the same copyPages() approach used for merging โ into a new PDFDocument and saves it. For splitting every page, it loops through the source document, creates a separate one-page PDFDocument for each page, and packages all of them together with JSZip so you get one ZIP download instead of dozens of separate file prompts.
Page numbers in the tool refer to the page as you'd count it in a PDF reader (page 1 is the first page), even though PDF page arrays are indexed from zero internally. Since each output file is a direct copy of the original page objects, splitting doesn't touch resolution, fonts, or embedded images โ the extracted pages look and print identically to the source.
Frequently asked questions
Can I extract non-consecutive pages?
This tool extracts a continuous page range in one go. For non-consecutive pages, use "Split Every Page" and pick the individual files you need from the ZIP.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No โ pages are copied exactly as they are, with no re-rendering or compression.
How are the individual files named when I split every page?
Each file is named after the source PDF with a page number appended, for example report-page-1.pdf, report-page-2.pdf, and so on, so the order is clear once you unzip them.
Can I split a PDF into fixed-size chunks, like every 5 pages?
Not directly โ this tool offers a single continuous range or a full one-page-per-file split. For fixed-size chunks, run the range extraction multiple times with different start and end pages.
Do I need to know the exact page count before splitting?
No โ open the PDF in any viewer first to check page numbers, or use "Split Every Page" if you're not sure and want every page available individually to choose from.
